Question 2
Yes it does because the messages being transferred back an forth. When communication is begun the partners are interacting and reacting to each others messages. Communication is like a game in a way as when two opposing teams play the teams interactions alter the game plan for the respective coaches. For example if one team is successfully running the ball in football the other team has to react and interacts its part differently to be able to handle the run heavy team. The same goes for two people in a conversation if one person takes the conversation to a certain area or level the other person has to adjust to the interaction. It is different from a gay because it is in a way a lot more dynamic then a game would be or ever could be.

Your post about the pragmatic perspective was interesting with your comparison to a football game. The steps that are taken with each one taking a turn and continual interaction becomes pattern as plays do in football.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I don’t quite understand your comment that this would be different from a homosexual, “gay” as you put it. Communication is a process and yes we all have different backgrounds but I don’t understand when applying the pragmatic perspective it would differentiate because of sexual orientation. I think this would apply with the social constructionist model but not with the pragmatic perspective. Maybe you are comparing the last two minutes of a football game where there is a 6 point lead and the opposing team makes a touch down and can win the game with a field goal. I hope I’m not going to far I am just trying to interpret your perspective on this.
Good example, I confer the claim that communication can be employed similar to a game. Nevertheless, a game differ in its primary function as it has pre-determined outcomes triggered by particular variables. A game has multiple characteristics, as such, communciation relates pragrmatically as reality is influenced by the one who triggers it through communication.
